Vice President Ma'ruf Amin opened the Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week 2023. On that occasion Ma'ruf revealed that the growth of the Muslim industry had increased to IDR 300 trillion. At the opening of Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week 2023, Ma'ruf was accompanied by the Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan, who was compact in harmony using batik and black pants. Also present were Deputy Minister of Trade Jerry Sambuaga and several other Ministry of Trade officials. "Domestically, the Muslim fashion industry has also shown a happy development. In 2021, this industry will grow 18.2% with a total consumption of IDR 300 trillion. Not only that, Muslim fashion exports also increased significantly 12.5%, reaching USD 4.6 billion in 2021," he said at the opening of Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week 2023, at ICE BSD, Tangerang, Banten, Thursday (20/10/2022).
Ma'ruf also targets Jakarta and even Indonesia to become the fashion capital of the world's leading Muslim fashion. The hope is to compete with the Muslim fashion capitals of the world, New York, London, Paris, and Milan. "Fashion capitals in the world are New York, London, Paris and Milan. I don't think it's excessive if we aspire to make Jakarta and other cities in Indonesia the Muslim Fashion Capital of the world," he said. He advised the Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan and his staff to continue to increase the promotion of Indonesian Muslim fashion products. "Including sports fashion. I also entrust this message to our representative offices abroad," he said. On the same occasion, Zulhas said that in the Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week event, it is certain that there will be buyers from various countries. Starting from France, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Spain, Mexico, Vietnam, and Nigeria. "There has been confirmation of buyers from France, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Spain, Mexico, Vietnam, and Nigeria who will attend this JMFW and enter into business contracts with Indonesian brands," he explained. Zulhas said that JMFW 2023 is a forum for 144 designers with around 1,000 fashion collections on display. "If we look at the Middle East, Muslim clothes, if not black, they are white, now there are various colors of various models. The colors are also good. Therefore we can be accepted in other parts of the world," he concluded.
