The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of Lampung opens investment opportunities in the management of derivative products from local superior commodities in the region. “For the management of derivative products which are local advantages, currently the strengthening is being carried out by starting to collaborate with various parties,” said Assistant II for Economy and Development of Lampung Province Kusnardi in Bandarlampung, Wednesday (20/10/2022). He said the local government is currently trying to expand the downstream of various superior local commodities into various derivative products with selling value. “There is a lot of potential here from the fisheries or agriculture sector, and there are very wide opportunities for investment in commodity management into derivative products in Lampung,” he said. He explained that some time ago, a meeting had also been held with various investors from within or outside the country to offer and discuss various investment opportunities in Lampung. "We strengthen all investments, such as trying to process cassava into mocaf, grinding coffee into powder, cocoa will also be processed into chocolate later, which will be offered to investors to participate in building factories or providing production equipment," he said.
The various ways of the downstream are carried out with financing that is planned to be borne through the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) or the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN). “In addition, Lampung’s rice production is quite a lot, so we try to invite investors to build factories here, or cooperate in providing food. So local superior commodities can have more selling value after being processed into derivative products,” he added. According to him, with the entry of a lot of investment in Lampung to manage existing commodities, the people's economic scheme will be even more complete. "So farmers and people are prosperous, the people's economy is running, commodities have a high selling value with help from investors," he said. In Lampung Province, investment is the anchor of economic recovery, and the realization of investment in the first semester of 2022 has reached IDR 4.2 trillion, from the target of IDR 11 trillion, with the most significant investment contribution coming from Bandar Lampung City which amounted to 39% of investment realization in Lampung Province. When viewed by sector, the most significant contribution came from hotels and restaurants at 19%, followed by the food sector at 18% and construction at 14%.
