Indonesian Shoes, Clothing, and Food Products Will be Exported to Africa & South Asia

The Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan continues to open up opportunities for entrepreneurs to penetrate non-traditional export destinations, such as to Afrika and South Asia region. In addition to having a large market potential with billions of people population, the Minister of Trade assessed that countries in the region also have the capital to buy Indonesian export goods. He said that the opening of non-traditional export markets is one of the government’s strategies to anticipate a slowdown in the world economy until 2023. "Our traditional markets are the west, Europe, and the United States. We now have to penetrate non-traditional markets. Where? There is Africa, and South Asia such as India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. You know, they have money," said Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan on the sidelines of the event. Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2022 which was held at ICE BSD, Tangerang Regency, Banten, Wednesday (19/10).
According to him, all products made in Indonesia have the potential to be boosted to the export market. Muslim products are no exception, and the government is pursuing a mission to make Indonesia the center of the world’s halal fashion industry. "Everything, clothes, shoes, food, they bought everything. We can send a veil, it can be USD 2, buy it. Muslim clothes, food, and shoes for USD 10, all of these are in demand there," said the Minister of Trade. On the other hand, the government has also entered into several trade agreements with several countries. One of them is the comprehensive economic agreement between Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates (IU CEPA) which was signed on July 1st, 2022. "Indeed, we have to open the market, the Ministry of Trade will make the agreements easier. We can enter Africa, India, the Middle East," he said. He hopes that Indonesian people can increase their export potential to other countries.
