The winners of the B20 Sustainability Awards 4.0 consisting of large companies and MSMEs are expected to be able to support the achievement of the net zero emission (NZE) target by 2060 or sooner. Chair of B20 Shinta W. Kamdani at the B20 Sustainability Awards 4.0 dinner in Jakarta, Tuesday night, said this time, the award event to encourage sustainability practices was held differently because it involved MSMEs actors. “This year we are not only giving awards to big companies but also MSMEs and I think this is important to pay attention to because it turns out that there are a lot of MSMEs that innovate and follow the sustainability aspect but do not get attention," she said. The B20 Sustainability Awards 4.0 is an appreciation event for innovations made by companies and MSMEs, especially in three categories that are also in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely Access to Clean Water (SDG number 6), Reduction or Reuse of The Plastic Waste (SDG number 12), and Women in Sustainability (SDG number 5).
The Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Coordinator for Maritime, Investment, and Foreign Affairs said that by increasing Indonesia's emission reduction target, from 29% to 31.89% without conditions using the country's resources and capabilities, and increasing the previous 41% to 43.20% with international support, it takes the role of all parties to support it. "Together, we want to encourage Indonesia to reach net zero by 2060 with companies, both large, small, and medium, also helping each other. I think this event is very good to be able to encourage more companies to know what has been done with many other companies," said Shinta. Head of Sustainability and Innovation Sectoral Group SwissCham Indonesia and President Director of PT Anugerah Pharmindo Lestari, Christophe Piganiol hopes that the event will have a significant impact on the implementation of the SDGs. "We hope this can help Indonesia and companies in Indonesia realize that sustainability is the responsibility of not only big companies but also everyone," he said.
