Organic Agricultural Products Become Leading Sector Entering Markets in Developed Countries

Founder and CEO of PT. Mega Innovation Organic, Dippos Naloanro Simanjuntak revealed that organic products can be a solution to penetrate the market of developed countries. This can help agricultural SMEs to export their products to developed countries, such as America and Europe. The reason is because America or Europe, sets high criteria for agricultural products into their country. There are many potential products of MSMEs in Indonesia, which ultimately cannot penetrate the export market. The reason is because it does not have a standard set in the export destination country. Dippos gave an example of coffee commodity in North Sumatra, which has market potential in developed countries. There are still many of these farmers, whose production activities are not yet clean. On the other hand, the advantage of organic products is that the costs required to produce them are cheaper than using pesticides. Based on the Dippos explanation, the use of pesticide fertilizers by farmers can cost up to one million rupiah per production. "Organic products are cheaper, because they use fertilizers that can be made from materials found in our environment," he said. Dippos said, the ancestors of Indonesian farmers could work to make agricultural products only by utilizing the materials that were around them. As a result, not only these agricultural products have better content, but they can also keep the surrounding environment cleaner. "Farmers today want everything to be instant, regardless of the impact on the environment," he concluded.
