Encouraging the Progress of Sustainable Ornamental Plant Industry in Indonesia, FLOII Held at JCC Senayan

Ministry of Agriculture Prihasto Setyanto said that in the last two decades, the growth of floriculture cultivation reached 12%. Its growth is higher than that of medicinal plants, vegetables, and fruits. Prihasto said, as one of the suppliers of the international market, Indonesia has the opportunity to strengthen its position as a supplier of ornamental plants in the world. However, many challenges must be faced, such as biodiversity conservation, good cultivation and handling practices, competent personnel, and export regulations. Policies and regulations that protect the realization of a sustainable floriculture industry and a healthy ecosystem are needed in Indonesia. To support the development and facilitate the floriculture industry in Indonesia, the Floriculture Indonesia International Convex (FLOII) was held at Hall A Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Jakarta, Friday (14/10/2022) to Sunday (16/10/2022). With the theme “Empowering Mindscapes and Transforming Indonesia Tropical Plants Industry”, FLOII is an event to promote and support sustainable practices of ethical, standardized, and modern ornamental plant production and management. Then, FLOII also supports biodiversity conservation, the world's most complete ornamental plant display case, as well as business matching and international ornamental plant trade transactions.

The event is expected to be a place to bring together fans and entrepreneurs of ornamental plants in Indonesia. FLOII is organized by Quad Event in collaboration with the Indonesian Floriculture Association (PFI). PFI chairman Rosy Nur Apriyanti said that PFI's mission was to convey information to increase awareness of the importance of ornamental plants as an environmental component. Rosy continued, his party also cooperates with the government or other organizations in order to preserve and develop the potential of the floriculture industry. He further said that the implementation of FLOII also received support from the Indonesian Aroid Society, an organization that focuses on the use of Aroid (aracea) plants, such as monstera, anthurium, philodendron, and aglonema. The chairman of the Indonesian Aroid Society, Ery Erlangga, said that his support was in organizing FLOII for the sustainable use of Aroid plants. It also cooperates with PFI to encourage a forum for sustainable ornamental plants. Please note, FLOII presents various activities, such as ornamental plant exhibitions, ornamental plant contests, photography contests, social activities, and conferences by horticulturists from within and outside the country. In addition, this event aims to attract people to the types of ornamental plants that are difficult to obtain, unique, and varied. On the same occasion, President Director of PT Fasen Creative Quality (QUAD Event) Michael Bayu A Sumarijanto explained that FLOII is here for fans and activists of ornamental plants in Indonesia.
