The Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) will facilitate Japanese investors who want to invest in the country. “We are preparing a new immigration policy, namely a second home visa to provide convenience and simplification of the immigration process for foreign investors,” said Acting Director General of Immigration at the Minsitry of Law and Human Rights Widodo Ekatjahjana in a writtne statement received in Jakarta, Sunday (16/10/2022). A second home visa is a type of visa that is given to foreign investors as well as other groups such as global talent, the Indonesian diaspora, and elderly foreign tourists. With this visa, foreigners can stay in Indonesia for five to 10 years. This was conveyed by Widodo after meeting with the Japanese Consulate General (Consulate) Takeyama Kenichi in Surabaya. Widodo invited Japanese investors to take advantage of the facility to increase investment growth in Indonesia. In the near future, the Government of Indonesia will ratify a policy related to the second home visa. The goal is to stretch investment and the economy in the country to continue to grow.
Meanwhile, the Japanese Consul General Taketama positively welcomed the latest immigration policy plan issued by the Indonesian government by making it easier for Japanese investors to invest in Indonesia. However, he also conveyed the problems often faced by Japanese investors, especially in terms of visa licensing and immigration residence permits. “We welcome the second home visa policy and hope that the Director General will be pleased to review the regulations that hinder the flow of new investment and the smooth operation of foreign companies,” he said.
