The Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas) released Indramayu mango exports. This was done by Zulhas in the Great Harvest of Mango Plantations and the Launching of the Worldwide Indramayu Mango Export Launch. Zulhas explained that based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the number of mango production in Indonesia reached more than 2.8 million tons in 2021, most of which were marketed domestically and also exported. Mango production in West Java province were reached 444,000 tons and was in the third position after East Java at 1.1 million tons, followed by Central Java at 457 tons in 2021. "According to data on mango exports from West Java province in 2021, it will occupy the first position with a total of USD 1.97 million as many as 1,277 tons," Zulhas said in his remarks, quoted Thursday (13/10/2022). Zulhas continued, mango exports in 2021 reached USD 4.56 million with 3,112 tons. The main export destinations are Singapore (USD 1.18 million), Canada (USD 0.76 million), the United States (USD 0.63 million) and Vietnam (USD 0.6 million). However, there are differences in the characteristics of mangoes and regulations are an obstacle in exporting. Currently, Indonesia is still in the 21st position of the order of mango exporting countries in the world. "This needs to be our focus together on how to increase mango exports from Indonesia," he said. On the same occasion, the Regent of Indramayu, Nina Agustina, complained about the falling mango prices during harvest. "The price fell to IDR 3,500, even though the price in stores in Jakarta could be IDR 25,000-30,000," said Nina. Zulhas responded that the problem of falling mango prices at harvest is an old disease that has been faced by farmers for the last 50 years. "Therefore, the president has agreed to allocate a budget of at least IDR 100 trillion to buy agricultural products, the basic ingredients of corn and rice. Pray for the program to be implemented soon," said Zulhas, who is also the chairman of PAN. In the event, Zulhas ordered 1 ton of Indramayu mango. "But the price is not IDR 3500, but IDR 10,000," said Zulhas to the applause of the farmers.
