Jokowi: Indonesia's Second Quarter Economic Growth is Among the Best in the World

President Joko Widodo said Indonesia's economic growth in the second quarter of 2022 was one of the best in the world. The President revealed that Indonesia's second quarter's economic growth rate reached 5.44%. Therefore, the President emphasized that Indonesia must remain optimistic. "I say we must remain optimistic. We must be optimistic, but be careful and vigilant because whatever the numbers we have, Indonesia, economic growth in the second quarter is among the best in the world, 5.44%," said Jokowi when opening Investor Daily Summit 2022 broadcast online on Tuesday (11/10/2022).


Meanwhile, Jokowi continued, inflation in Indonesia is still under control after the increase in the price of subsidized fuel oil (BBM) some time ago. According to the Head of State, current inflation is still below 5.9%. "We are also grateful for this because if we compare it with other countries, currently in Argentina (inflation) is 83.5%, with an increase in interest rates already 3,700 basis points. We have inflation at 5.9 with a change in interest rates at 75 basis points. points," he explained. Referring to these conditions, Jokowi said that Indonesia's monetary condition is still in a position that can be controlled. Jokowi said that this condition was also supported by daily activities between Bank Indonesia as the central bank and the Ministry of Finance that went hand in hand and did not overlap. "This is what I see good communication so that fiscal and monetary can work together," added Jokowi.
