Governor of East Java (Jatim) Khofifah Indar Parawansa said the 2022 Jatim Fair became an arena for MSME players to expand the market, as well as motivate MSMEs to rise after the pandemic for the last two years. "Hopefully, through this event, more young entrepreneurs will emerge who are able to penetrate new markets, including the export market by bringing local products," said East Java Governor Khofifah after opening the 2022 Jatim Fair at the Exhibition Hall Grand City Surabaya, Friday. Themed "Optimistic East Java Rise", the 2022 Jatim Fair will be held on 7-13 October 2022 and there are 281 booths offline. The booths include those from the Regional Apparatus Organization (OPD) of the East Java Provincial Government, districts/cities in East Java, BUMN/BUMD, private businesses, MSMEs, to several districts/cities outside East Java. Besides being able to be visited offline, the public can also shop for the products on display at the 2022 Jatim Fair through the Tokopedia market shop.
Khofifah said that the Jatim Fair 2022 was a business forum that brought together producers and buyers, not only from East Java, but also outside the province and islands and abroad. This event is also proof of the East Java Provincial Government's commitment to encouraging MSMEs to move forward. "I am optimistic that this event will be able to become a driving force and accelerate the economic revival of the people in East Java. Moreover, this event was held offline after two years of a hybrid concept," she added. Khofifah said that the time for the 2022 Jatim Fair should be extended, so that the trade transactions achieved will be greater and the MSME players have the opportunity to get a wider market. Khofifah explained that the MSME sector has a very important role in the East Java economy, with the contribution of K-UMKM's Added Value (NTB) to GRDP in 2021 reaching 57.81%, an increase of 0.56% compared to 2020.
