The Fish Quarantine Station and Quality Control and Safety of Fishery Products (SKIPM) Padang, West Sumatra noted that the export of fishery products from the province to overseas experienced an increase in September 2022 when compared to the previous month. The head of SKIPM Padang, Abdur Rohman in Padang, said on Sunday that the total export value of West Sumatra's fishery products in September was Rp. 9,184,413,834 or Rp. 9.1 billion, while the export of fishery products in August was only Rp. 6.6 million, then in July 2022 it reached Rp. 3.9. billion. He said that in September only two types of fishery products were exported, namely frozen tuna and dried fish. Frozen tuna is shipped from West Sumatra to the United States and Dried Fish is shipped to Japan.
His party ensures that the quality of fish caught in the waters of West Sumatra is free from dangerous diseases before being exported to various countries. In addition to physically checking the freshness of the caught fish, the characteristics of the fish meat are still chewy and the eyes of the fish are still bright. SKIPM Padang also takes fish samples to be examined in the laboratory and all laboratory facilities owned have been accredited by the National Accreditation Board to ensure that the quality of the fish that will be consumed by the public or exported is guaranteed. Previously, Minangkabau International Airport in Padang Pariaman, West Sumatra officially resumed international flights on the Padang-Kuala Lumpur route on Saturday after two years of suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, Head of Region VI Airport Authority Endah Purnama Sari is grateful for the re-opening of international flights. "This is a good moment after COVID-19 has slowed, hopefully other airlines will also open international flights," he said. Padang-Kuala Lumpur flights are officially served by Air Asia with a frequency of twice a week every Tuesday and Saturday.
