Today Bank of Indonesia (BI) opens the 9th Indonesia Sharia Economic Festival (ISEF) in 2022. BI Governor Perry Warjiyo explained that the sharia economy is being developed to encourage national economic recovery. Perry also explained that currently Indonesia is a major player in the global arena. Overall, the Islamic economy, Indonesia is ranked 4. "That is, Indonesia is ranked 4th in the overall global sharia economy, ranked 2nd for halal food, and ranked 3rd for Muslim fashion. This shows that sharia economy and finance in Indonesia has consistently continued to experience significant progress," said Perry at the opening of ISEF in JCC, Thursday (6/10/2022). He explained that currently various parties continue to encourage the contribution of the Islamic economy to support a faster and stronger economic recovery.
Perry added that the 9th ISEF activity had three main topics, namely Economic Inclusion, Halal & Green Lifestyle, and Digitalization with a series of national and international but still populist activities, which were held a week on 5-9 October 2022. He said there were several activities in ISEF 2022 including the HEBITREN Mukernas, expansion of halal certification, INHALIFE halal lifestyle, International Hajj Conference, to international tourism forums. "In the field of Islamic finance, activities include the IsDB-IFSB Seminar on 10 Year Framework Strategy on Islamic Finance Development, the International Conference on Zakat and Waqf, and the International Fiqh Conference," he said. The implementation of ISEF activities has started with a series of Road to ISEF 2022 activities since last April, through the Islamic Financial Economics Festival (FESyar) which was held three times at the regional level, namely FESyar for Eastern Indonesia centered in South Sulawesi, FESyar for Sumatra in Aceh, and FESyar for the region Java in East Java. "Alhamdulillah, the series of national and international webinars, business matching, international showcases, and exhibitions were successful. The series of FESyar activities was attended by more than 372.9 thousand participants with business deals of IDR 9.43 trillion, including the results of the productive waqf auction," he said. Perry said that in organizing the 9th ISEF this year, there were three special things which were a concrete manifestation of ISEF's role as hamzah washal in congregation in the development of the sharia economy in Indonesia.
