Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo encouraged companies from European Union member countries to develop investments in high technology industries in Central Java. This is because, so far, many companies have tended to invest in the infrastructure industry. Of course, what they talked about was more about infrastructure, but actually, we also want high technology too, if hi-tech can enter here, it's quite good," said Ganjar, in a statement received by Kompas.com, on Tuesday (04/10/2022). Not to mention, so far investment from European Union countries in Central Java is still inferior to non-EU countries. Data on investment realization in Central Java in the first semester of 2022 stated that investment from European Union countries was only USD 4.9 million. Meanwhile, Germany so far leads as the European Union country with the highest investment in Central Java with a total of USD 1.4 million, followed by Belgium with USD 1.2 million. “Hopefully later other European Union members can come to Central Java,” said Ganjar after attending the Trade and Investment Dialogue with the European Union at the Gumaya Hotel, Semarang.
Ganjar admits that the problems faced by European Union countries are the same as other countries in the world, including Indonesia. First, of course, the issue of energy, specifically gas, and second is the food problem. Cooperation in the fields of trade and investment is important to work together to find breakthroughs and solutions. Moreover, in Central Java, many industrial and trade areas are prepared with substantial incentives. "This is a good potential between Indonesia, especially Central Java, and the European Union. We hope to invite more, so we offered several interesting industrial areas to come," he said. The European Union Ambassador to Indonesia Vincent Piket who was present at the event responded favorably to Ganjar's invitation. Vincent admits that the world is currently facing a major crisis due to Russia's war against Ukraine. Various economic impacts are felt by the European Union and many other countries. "Of course, Indonesia as a country with trade and investment sectors is very important for us," he said. With this meeting, Vincent better understands the path or scheme that must be taken to be able to invest in Central Java
