International collaboration and synergy with the industrial world are some of the Main Performance Indicators (KPI) of higher education institutions. Campuses are required to always have a dialogue with scientific developments globally, as well as be able to build bridges with the world of work. This is what underlies the birth of the collaboration between the Muhammadiyah University (Unismuh) Makassar and the Italian De Martinis Telemedicine Panel (DEMATEPA). The cooperation is bound in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a Cooperation Agreement (MoA). This collaboration was realized through the facilitation of the Institute for Language Development, Cooperation and International Affairs (LPBKUI) Unismuh Makassar. The signing of the MoU was carried out between the Chancellor of Unismuh, Prof. Ambo Asse, and the representative of DEMATEPA, Prof. Nando Campanella. In addition, an MoA signing was also held between the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) Unismuh Prof. Suryani As'ad with the same party. The procession was held in the Rector's Meeting Room, Iqra Building, 17th Floor, Unismuh Makassar Campus, Jalan Sultan Alauddin, Saturday, October 3, 2022. In this event, the Chancellor of Unismuh was accompanied by Vice Chancellor I Dr Abd Rakhim Nanda, Dean of FKIK Unismuh Prof. Suryani As'ad, Head of the Institute for Language Development, Cooperation and International Affairs (LPBKUI) Unismuh Maharida, and Head of Public Relations Unismuh Hadisaputra.
Before the signing of the MoU and MoA, the Dean of FKIK Unismuh said that the cooperation was immediately implemented within a few days of Prof. Nando's visit to Makassar. “Prof Nando delivered a public lecture on Friday, and Saturday morning he had time to fill 3 classes. Tomorrow Sunday, we will continue with community service in the assisted villages of FKIK Unismuh Tanakaraeng, for assistance in handling stunting, "explained Prof. Suryani. According to Prof. Suryani, FKIK Unismuh has now stepped into the international accreditation process. Previously, the Bachelor of Medicine and Medical Profession Study Program had received an A accreditation from LAM-PTKes. “Currently we have managed international accreditation for the Health Research Ethics Committee through FERCAP. In addition, we are preparing ASIIN international accreditation,” explained Prof. Suryani. Meanwhile, in the same place, Deputy Chancellor I Dr Abd Rakhim Nanda gave an overview of Unismuh's 2044 vision, which is to become an Edupreneur University. According to him, the vision is realized through 6 stages, each stage carried out within 4 years. "Starting by targeting a nationally reputable university with Superior accreditation in 2024," said Rakhim. He continued, in 2028, Unismuh will enter preparations for an international reputable campus. In 2032 with international reputation, 2036 will become a Research University. In 2040 preparation for Edupreneur University, and 2044 to become Edupreneur University. Prof. Nando responded positively to the progress of Unismuh Makassar, especially FKIK. He also appreciated Unismuh's long-term vision. “A very far-sighted vision. I'm not sure how old I am until that vision is realized,” said Prof. Nando, jokingly. Unismuh Chancellor Prof. Ambo Asse hopes that collaboration with DEMATEPA will further strengthen the foundation of Unismuh's internationalization in the future.
