Food holding ID Food is committed to contributing to developing the blue economy and blue food through the fisheries sector business line. President Director of Food Holding ID FOOD Frans Marganda Tambunan said that the SOE (State-Owned Enterprise) ID Food through the Holding Member of the Fisheries sector, namely PT Perikanan Indonesia, has the potential to develop a fisherman supply chain ecosystem from operational areas spread throughout Indonesia. "This fisherman supply chain ecosystem aims to not only empower fishermen to increase marine product production, but also to maintain the supply of fish commodity needs and the welfare of fishermen," said Frans in his official broadcast, Wednesday (28/9/2022). This fisherman supply chain ecosystem, continued Frans, covers upstream and downstream fisheries integration, starting from providing supporting facilities for fishermen such as providing fuel services for fishing boats, ship docks and workshops for fishing boats, providing ice and cold storage for fish storage. According to Frans, this is also in line with what was mandated by the Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir to build a fishery ecosystem and encourage SOEs such as Perindo Member of ID FOOD, Himbara to be involved in the fisheries ecosystem. Minister Erick also assessed that fishermen play an important role for the future of the nation's economy and food sovereignty. In addition, the fisherman supply chain ecosystem will also develop a warehouse receipt system (WRS) for fisheries and digitalization technology to funding for fishermen in collaboration with Himbara, including insurance protection for fishermen.
On the same occasion, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Pandjaitan said, as a maritime country, there are two things that cannot be separated, namely about 75% of Indonesia's territory is covered by sea water, and has 17,500 islands with a coastline of about 108,000 kilometers. According to him, with all these blessings, Indonesia has a lot of potential. “Indonesia has a strong commitment to taking action to protect, manage and restore natural resources in a sustainable manner, developing our economy to the blue economy stage. Based on the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN), Indonesia is committed to and supports strategic cooperation in the National Blue Agenda Action Partnership," said Luhut. Minister Luhut then expressed his hope that Indonesia's leadership in the G20 can help realize this for both Indonesia and the world. Based on this, Indonesia promises to create healthy and sustainable seas. He believes that with this partnership, the world can recover together, recovering stronger for sustainable oceans and blue growth. “We invite real support and collaboration from you for our healthy and sustainable oceans now and in the future. This support can also be an opportunity to support G20 joint action, especially Ocean20 with other small and developing countries," he concluded.
