The Vice Minister of Trade is Confident that the 2022 Trade Balance Will Break The Record for The Last 15 Years

Deputy Minister of Trade Jerry Sambuaga is optimistic that the trade balance will continue to record positive things. In fact, he is increasingly confident that by the end of 2022, Indonesia's trade balance will beat the record for 15 years. The achievement of January-August 2022 which recorded a trade balance surplus of USD 34.92 billion was the reason for his statement. Meanwhile, the surplus in 2021 is USD 35.34 billion, for a one year period. "I am absolutely sure that at the end of December 2022, we will close 2022, beating last year's trade balance record," he told reporters at the Ministry of Commerce Building, written Monday (26/9/2022). "Because I remember very well in December last year the figure was USD 35.34 billion, it was the highest for the last 15 years. Now it is USD 34 billion, this is definitely going up, in October, November, December, and it will exceed the USD 35 billion yesterday So we will be higher than last year, which has been higher in the last 15 years," he added.

However, this trade balance surplus is not only the role of the Ministry of Trade. However, it involves all existing ministries and institutions. "This is the president's direction as well how to achieve a surplus trade balance and we will fulfill it and God willing, it will increase," he said. Jerry revealed that one of the things that can affect the trade balance is the existence of comprehensive economic cooperation with a number of countries. At least, to date, the Ministry of Trade has completed 26 similar agreements. In fact, in order to increase revenue and expand potential, the government plans to target non-conventional markets like  countries on the African continent and in Latin America.
