Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan stated that Indonesia's trade balance currently has a surplus of USD 5.76 billion on a monthly basis in August 2022. This realization is higher on a monthly basis from the previous month's USD 4.23 billion. "The trade balance, Indonesia is in the midst of global economic recovery in August 2022, we have a trade surplus, yes, USD 5.76 billion," said the man who is familiarly called Zulhas during the '100 Day Performance of the Trade Minister' at the Ministry of Trade Office, Central Jakarta, Sunday. (25/9). "So that January-August reached USD 34.92 billion," he added. In addition, Zulhas also said that non-oil and gas exports in the January-August period increased by USD 194.6 billion. Meanwhile, Indonesia's main export destinations are China (21.27%), the United States (10.81%), India (8.79%), Japan (8.23%), and Malaysia (5.21%). Previously, the Deputy for Distribution and Service Statistics of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) said the trade balance surplus occurred because the export value reached USD 27.91 billion, up 9.17% from the previous month's USD 25.6 billion. Meanwhile, the value of imports was only USD 22.15 billion, up 3.77% from the previous position of USD 21.35 billion. In detail, export performance was supported by exports of oil and gas (oil and gas) reaching USD 1.71 billion, an increase of 25.59% from the previous month which amounted to USD 1.37 billion. Likewise, non-oil and gas exports rose 8.24% from USD 24.19 billion to USD 26.19 billion. By sector, oil and gas exports rose 25.59%, agriculture, forestry and fisheries rose 16.99%, manufacturing industry rose 13.49%, and mining fell 6.66%.
