According to Garut Regent Rudy Gunawan, Garut Regency is now starting to be recognized as part of the leather industry in the world, along with the participation of the city nicknamed “Swiss Van Java” in the 2022 Lineapelle Leather Fair as a prestigious trade show event in the leather fashion and design industry. “Of course, this is a pride for Indonesia and for Garut who participates in a prestigious exhibition. Garut is part of the leather industry in the world, that’s what is important,” said the Regent of Garut on the sidelines of the 2022 Lineapelle Leather Fair, Milan, Italy, Thursday (22/9/2022). Rudy also considered that the 2022 Lineapelle Leather Fair was an extraordinary event for promotion, so his party in this exhibition collaborated with Garut Makmur Perkasa (GMP) Ltd. and several other companies to improve the quality and marketing of genuine leather products in Garut Regency. He revealed that the development of the leather industry in Garut Regency will be carried out in stages by involving businessmen in Indonesia. Rudy also added that his party will provide 100 hectares of land to create a leather industrial area in Garut Regency, located in Selaawi District.
Regarding the exhibition, he admitted that his party was accompanied by Chair Woman 20 (W20) Indonesia, Handriyani Uli Silalahi, and was fully supported by the Indonesian Embassy in Italy. “Thank you Mr. Ambassador, Mrs. Deputy Ambassador, thank you W20 Indonesia and of course thank you to Mr. Sandiaga Uno and also to Mr. Agus Gumiwang, our Minister of Trade who has provided support to us,” he explained.
