Minister of Transportation Invites Denmark to Invest in Patimban Port

Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi invited businessmen from Denmark to participate in developing the Patimban Port in Subang, West Java. The offer was made directly to the Danish shipping line company Maersk Line when invited to visit Patimban Port. "We offer Maersk Line and several investors from a number of countries to cooperate with PT Pelabuhan Patimban International (PPI) which has been appointed as a private entity to develop Patimban Port. We want this port to develop rapidly," said Budi in an official statement, Friday (16/9). According to him, if the cooperation with Maersk Line runs, it will provide great benefits for Indonesia. This is because the company is one of the largest shipping companies in the world with potential for transportation from Asia to Europe, the United States, and the Middle East. Therefore, Budi tried to convince the ranks of the Maersk Line to be able to invest and build Patimban Port together. Budi also explained the performance of the Patimban Port during its operation, so that if it was developed it would provide even better results. "This year it has been running and the results are above what we planned. Previously it was targeted to be able to transport 160,000 vehicles, but now it has transported 200,000 vehicles. This shows that Patimban Port has great potential," said Budi. Meanwhile, the Danish Ambassador to Indonesia Lars Bo Larsen who participated in the visit welcomed Indonesia's offer and was impressed with the performance of the Patimban Port. He considered that Indonesia has very strong growth going forward, especially in the West Java to Central Java region. "Sea transportation is an important element in ensuring sustainable growth and we are committed to working closely with the Indonesian government," he said.

The construction of the Patimban Port consists of three stages. Stage 1 consists of two parts, namely stages 1-1 and stages 1-2. For stage 1-1 the construction has been completed and currently construction will continue to stage 1-2 in October 2022 and is targeted for completion in 2025. The Patimban Port is targeted to have the same capacity as the Priok Port, which is 7.5 million TEUs of containers and 600 thousand vehicles per year by 2027.
