The processing industry recorded an export value during January - August 2022 of USD 139.23 billion, an increase of 24.03% compared to the same period last year. The industrial sector continues to provide the largest contribution with a contribution of up to 71.55% percent of the total national export value which has penetrated USD 194.60 billion. "Export performance from the manufacturing industry sector continues to soar, despite the risk of global uncertainty overshadowing the national economy," said Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita in a press release on the Ministry of Industry's website, Sunday (18/9).
Agus emphasized that shipments from the manufacturing industry sector consistently contributed greatly to Indonesia's trade balance surplus. This can be seen from the results of Indonesia's trade balance which succeeded in having a surplus for 28 consecutive months, thus proving that the government's policies in economic recovery are on the right track. Referring to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the cumulative trade balance in January - August 2022 experienced a surplus of USD 34.92 billion or grew 68.6% compared to the same period last year. The trade balance surplus is inseparable from the industrial downstream program that the government continues to run in order to increase the added value of natural resources in Indonesia.
