Showing the Potential of Indonesia’s Creative Industries in Localfest 2022

The Senayan East Parking Area was very crowded on September 9th. Young people, mostly in streetwear style, visited various tenants who attended the Localfest 2022 event. Localfest 2022 highlights local works in the fields of fashion, culinary, music, and art. The concept can be said to be similar to the Jakcloth festival which has been running since 2009. Cooperating with Neo Commerce Bank, Localfest was equipped with more than 120 local brands that are open for fashion and culinary goods. Several clothing lines that participated in this activity were Kamengski, Erigo, Roughneck, Loony, Cosmonauts, Thanksinsomnia, and more. This event was also suitable for culinary lovers to visit. The types of snacks offered are quite a lot, from traditional snacks such as klepon to western-style foods such as tacos and pizza.


The Head of Marketing and Communication of Localfest Adit Yara said that Localfest 2022 is expected to show the potential of the local creative industry which is currently growing rapidly and dominated by the younger generation. Adit said this year, there were more than 120 local brands consisting of fashion, beauty, and culinary categories that took part in this activity. The local brands even come from various regions in Indonesia, not only from the Greater Jakarta and Bandung areas. “We will try to start cooperating with brands from Central Java, East Java, Bali, and later to the islands of Sumatra and Kalimantan,” said Adit.
The visitors were seen shopping and taking advantage of special discounts at the event, others came just to browse the various local goods on offer. The prices offered are quite affordable, with an average of USD 10-20. Not only seeing clothes or goods made by local brands, but many young people enjoy their weekend by watching the live music of Localfest 2022 with stunning local bands such as Seiren, Divide, Mooner, The Sigit, Feel Koplo, and more. The older people were also quite enthusiastic to see various local goods at the 2022 Localfest event. “It’s fun and full of cool products,” said Yana, a 52-year-old woman from South Tangerang.


VP of Marketing of Neo Commerce Bank Maritsen Darvita said Localfest could be a place for creative industry activists that showcases local potential, especially in the fields of fashion, culinary, music, and art. The program also aims to campaign for people’s habits to use local products. The event was in harmony with the words of the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno which encouraged Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and the creative industries to continue to thrive, expansive, and global.
