Handicraft products from Suryo Art, an MSME with its address at Purbayan Village, Baki District, Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java, were chosen to be one of the official souvenir suppliers for the G20 Summit in Bali. The owner of Suryo Art, Agus Suryono (45) said he registered his products with the Ministry of SMEs in January 2022. A total of 10 products were submitted to become official merchandise for the G20 Summit in Bali. "The latest information I got was that there were 1200 MSMEs registered throughout Indonesia. And only 20 MSMEs were taken," Agus said when met at his gallery, Monday (12/9/2022). A total of 10 items that he proposed in the form of vandels, pins, refrigerator decorations, pen holders, and wall decorations with the characteristics of Javanese wayang kulit. After qualifying, as many as 3 items were ordered to become official merchandise for the G20 Summit in Bali. The three items consisted of two types of vandels and a pen holder. "My trademark is the wayang element. And, the logo has the puppet mountain element as well," he said. So far, he has sent 90 merchandise items to the G20 Summit committee in Bali.
The man who graduated from the UNS Faculty of Engineering said that vandels made when sold alone cost around IDR 150-200 thousand per item. Surya Art has been open since 2011. He has also received an order for shadow puppets for wall decoration at the State Palace by former Vice President Boediono. Separately, the Head of the MSME Empowerment Division of the SME Department of Trade and Cooperatives (Disdagkop) of Sukoharjo Regency, Suryanto, appreciated the MSMEs in Sukoharjo who passed. "We are proud, of the thousands of applicants, only 20 have passed. And one of them is in Sukoharjo," he said. So he hopes that this will be a trigger for other MSMEs in Sukoharjo to be more competitive. Technical guidance (bimtek) with SMEs is also continuously carried out by the Disdagkop UKM Sukoharjo. Various problems faced by MSMEs were tried to be resolved in the technical guidance. "The problem is more with financing, we have discussed it with banks. For HR issues, we take inventory with training. And for marketing, we direct it to digital sales, and we continue to make MSME exhibitions," he concluded.
