Information on fresh tuna export activities from the Biak Regency Government received on Monday, said that Biak's fresh tuna export shipments had been sent three times using Garuda Indonesia flights. In the first export of tuna Biak 1.5 tons, the second export 2.5 tons, and the third export reached 5,371 kg or 5.37 tons. "We are trying to increase Biak's export shipments of fresh tuna to Japan," said Head of the Biak Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service Efendi Igirisa. He said the volume of deliveries could be made more than once a week, depending on Garuda Indonesia's flight schedule. Efendi said shipments of fresh tuna, frozen tuna, and other types of fish are still being carried out abroad from Biak. The exported fish, continued Efendi, include fresh tuna, Big Eye and Yellow Fin. Efendi said that the delivery of fresh tuna was carried out by PT Indo Pasifik Numfor, which already has a Fish Management Unit (UPI) in the warehouse of PT Pelindo Indonesia, Biak Branch. "Various efforts continue to be made by Regent Herry Ario Naap, one of which is by continuing to build communication with the central government and investors to increase the export volume of Biak's fresh tuna," he said.
