The Department of Trade and Industry (Disdagin) of Bandung, West Java, said that 28 Small and Medium Industrial (IKM) Centers in Bandung have great potential to encourage economic growth. Last Sunday, the Sub-Coordinator for Planning for the Industrial Center for Disdagin Bandung Rina Santi said that her party is trying to guide the dozens of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The reason is there are 10.000 workers who the IKM center in Bandung absorbs. “The beginner of IKM are being developed based on quality, packaging, and marketing,” said Rina. In addition, she said Disdagin has also prepared a market expansion program for IKM participants, namely IKM Go Exports for IKMs who have advanced grades and qualified quality. “So when they are ready enough, we will take their products outside Bandung,” she said.
Rina also emphasized that Bandung City Government was also providing space by holding the “Bandung City Industrial Center Festival.” The event location was at Cihampelas Walk, which was being held last Sunday and featured several IKM centers assisted by the Bandung City Government. According to Rina, various IKM centers that appeared at the event included centers for fashion, crafts, printing, food, product, dolls, and household appliances.
Disdagin has targeted to find new market segments for IKM participants with the goal of 300 million rupiahs. One of the IKM actors from Kampoeng Rajut, Dewi Ratna Purwanti, admitted that she was enthusiastic about participating in the Bandung City Industrial Center Festival. She also claimed to be one of the IKM participants who is guided by the Bandung City Government through the Disdagin. “We are guided and encouraged by the Bandung Government.
