Ministry of Marine and Fisheries Affairs Cooperates with Ministry of Cooperative and SMEs to Develop Smart Fisheries Village

The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) through the Marine and Fisheries Research and Human Resources Agency (BRSDM) in collaboration with the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (Kemenkop UKM) developed the Smart Fisheries Village (SFV) concept. "The Smart Fisheries Village program is a fishery village development concept based on the application of information technology, communication and sustainable effective management to improve the economy of rural communities. SFV is also a model for developing smart fishing villages in an integrated manner by collaborating with many related parties, namely the central and local governments, academics, industry, and society," said Head of BRSDM I Nyoman Radiarta in an official statement in Jakarta, Friday. In order to grow community business groups as well as marine and fisheries entrepreneurship, BRSDM cooperates with the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs. Signed cooperation agreement on Community Business Group Development and Entrepreneurship in Support of SFV Development. The scope of cooperation consists of program and activity synergies in SFV development; implementation of training, counseling and assistance for community business groups, cooperatives and SMEs in the marine and fisheries sector; institutional strengthening of Community Business Groups in the marine and fisheries sector; and exchange of data and information for community business groups, cooperatives, and SMEs in the marine and fisheries sector. "For this reason, BRSDM needs the support of the Deputy for Entrepreneurship of the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs to participate in active synergy together to grow community business groups and marine and fisheries entrepreneurship. We really hope that through this collaboration, community business groups and students in the KKP BRSDM education unit will get training, mentoring and entrepreneurship assistance support the development of SMART Fisheries Village," said Nyoman. Nyoman said that SMART stands for Sustainable, Modernization, Acceleration, Regeneration, and Technology. It is intended that this program form superior fishing villages that are productive, able to apply information technology, are independent and pay attention to the principle of sustainability.


SFV is also a place to increase the capacity of marine and fisheries human resources through education, training, counseling, and business incubation, which are carried out in an integrated and integrated manner. For example, SFV can be a place of practice for students, it can also be a place of training for the community. Business actors receive assistance from local fishery instructors. The SFV program will change the face of the fishing village to be more competitive because the economic activities in it become more diverse, such as the existence of tourist spots to the production of MSME products. "Hopefully the cooperation agreement signed today can be implemented with full commitment. And we also hope for positive support from the Deputy for Entrepreneurship for the realization of strong and resilient entrepreneurs in the marine and fisheries sector," he concluded. Previously, the SFV was launched by the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono on August 2 at the opening of the BRSDM Technical Working Meeting in Jakarta. The SFV concept is in line with the priority program as a KKP breakthrough that has been set by Minister Trenggono, particularly the development of export-based aquaculture and the development of local wisdom-based fishing villages.
