Department of culture and tourism in Aceh invites Gayo community to collaborate in promoting culture attraction as long as the tourism site there. Almuniza Kamal, the representative of the department believes that by introducing many types of local food and handicrafts might enhance the tourism interest in Aceh. He explained his thought on the sidelines of opening the Gayo Coffee Harvest Festival which was initiated by the Aceh Cultural Heritage Preservation Center. He explained that the collaboration between the government and the community would be able to elevate the economy of the people in Central Aceh. Almuniza said he was proud that the cultural and tourism ecosystem in the Gayo highlands was still being preserved. He also appreciated the cohesiveness of the Kute Lintang and Pegasing residents, who were aware of the tourism potential in their village. "Hopefully this village can become an example for other villages in Central Aceh, so that tourism in Gayo Land becomes the main sub-sector, which will revive the entire economy in the Central Aceh region," he said.
Almuniza also invited all village officials and local youth to collaborate and stimulate the tourism industry in Aceh. Almuniza advised reje (village head) and parents in Kute Lintang and Pegasing villages to spark enthusiasm in directing the young people in the local village. "I hope that Reje continues to be enthusiastic in guarding the young people here. To the young people, even though your thoughts are great, please keep asking Reje and other elderies for direction. Aceh wouldn’t be as great as it is, if it’s not because of them." he said. The youths of the two villages packaged this festival with local wisdom, so that the essence of the Gayo people's traditions was able to attract domestic and foreign tourists to visit Central Aceh. BPCB Aceh representative, Miftah said the Gayo Coffee Harvest Festival is one form of implementation of the mandate of the law to promote Indonesian culture. He hopes that these efforts will not only be the responsibility of the government, but also involve the role of the community. The Gayo Coffee Harvest Festival ends successfully with event satisfaction score up to 8.5.
