This is the first time Italy will form a delegation on behalf of the country for the event. The delegation will consist of the Italian Embassy in China, the Italian Trade Agency, the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce, the Italian Government Tourism Agency and 15 Italian companies, said Gianpaolo Bruno, director of the Beijing Office of the Italian Trade Agency. Italian companies participating in the exhibition cover, among others, manufacturing research and development, food services, industrial design, business consulting, legal services, cultural services, construction and engineering services, as well as transportation and logistics. "Although it is difficult to travel from Rome to Beijing, due to objective factors such as COVID-19, every institution has done everything possible to participate, which shows how important Italian companies value this trade fair in services," said Bruno. Bruno added that the service sector plays an important role in the Italian economy and the country enjoys a comparative advantage in a broad spectrum of service sectors, such as tourism and arts and cultural services.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Italy's trade with China saw rapid growth of 34.1% in 2021, according to data from Chinese Customs. The service industry is playing an increasingly important role in bilateral trade between Italy and China, thanks to the efforts of both governments to promote openness, Bruno said. China's economy is very resilient and strong, and China's economic growth will continue to contribute to global economic growth in the future, he said, adding that Italian companies have confidence in the Chinese market.
