Increase Export Potential in Marauke and Ambon

Customs and excise revenues grew positively until July 2022 with total revenues reaching IDR 185.1 trillion or 61% of the target and growing by 31.1% year on year (yoy). This is driven by the positive trend of import duties, the resilience of excise performance, as well as the convincing performance of export duties. The realization of export duties until July 2022 grew by 97.8%, while on a monthly basis it grew by 206.4% compared to July 2021. The positive performance of this export duty was influenced by an increase in exports of crude palm oil (CPO) commodities and their derivatives. In addition, exports of national superior commodities and manufactured products also continued to record high growth in line with market demand. Hatta Wardhana, Head of the Sub-Directorate of Public Relations and Customs Extension, said that this positive export growth needs to be maintained and even increased. "One of Customs' efforts in supporting export performance is through synergies with various relevant agencies, such as local governments and non-governmental organizations," he added. This synergy is carried out in the form of socialization, discussion forums, and assistance on export procedures for industrial players. In Merauke, Merauke Customs and Excise together with other echelon I units at the Ministry of Finance and Youth Inspirational Merauke (PMI) carried out socialization with the theme "MSMEs Go Up Class". This activity took place at the Merauke SOE Creative House, on Monday (25/07), followed by MSME actors in the Merauke area. Meanwhile, in Ambon, Ambon Customs and Excise in synergy with the Industry and Trade Office, the Maluku Provincial Government Agriculture Service, and Ambon Agricultural Quarantine held a meeting to discuss the preparation for the export plan for PT Banda Rempah Organic nutmeg, on Wednesday (10/08). This activity aims to encourage the implementation of exports in the agricultural sector. In addition to nutmeg, the plan is for PT Banda Rempah Organic to export agricultural products in the form of cloves, cinnamon, and vanilla. Furthermore, Ambon Customs and Excise also attended the implementation meeting for the acceleration of direct call exports for Maluku marine and fishery commodities, on Friday (12/08). This meeting was attended by the Maluku Customs and Excise Office, Ambon Customs, Tual Customs, and various relevant regional agencies in the Maluku region. This meeting succeeded in producing an agreement to formulate a specific action agenda in the form of a collaboration forum for the implementation of the implementation desk for the acceleration of exports in the marine and fisheries sector of Maluku Province. Collaboration is also carried out to prepare production volume and quality, logistics needs, licensing processes, capital, and container availability by all relevant agencies in Maluku Province.

Furthermore, Ambon Customs and Excise also provided assistance and coordination with the Central Maluku Regency Government and MSME actors related to export activities, on Monday (15/08). The points discussed by the Ambon Customs Export Support Team in coordinating activities related to mapping the increase in MSME business actors that can be encouraged for export and discussing several obstacles to business actors on Banda Island. “Customs has a commitment to continue to provide export assistance for domestic business actors, so that business actors can increase their competitiveness and have the opportunity to expand their business to the international market. Through this inter-agency synergy, it is hoped that it can generate export potential from MSME players in the Merauke and Ambon regions," concluded Hatta.
