The Agam Regency Government is committed to continuing to strengthen the fisheries and tourism sector in the Tiku coastal area, Tanjungmutiara District. These two sectors are considered to have great potential to be able to boost the local community's economy to be better and more prosperous. Agam Regent Andri Warman said the Covid-19 pandemic had indirectly impacted the economy of coastal communities. Especially for coastal communities, fishermen's catches have decreased, the tourism sector is quiet due to restrictions. For that, the two sectors must be boosted again. In the fishery sector, his party distributes a number of fishery infrastructure and assistance for rehabilitation of fish markets and fish processing units. "I realize that the fishermen who have felt the impact of Covid-19 the most are traditional fishermen or capture fishermen. For this reason, local governments must stimulate the economy so that it can bounce back,” said Andri. "There are several mosques that have become icons in West Sumatra. Now we are building a red domed mosque in Agam. God willing, it will become our tourism icon. If tourism rises, the economy will automatically rise," he said. To strengthen the two sectors, Andri hopes that there will be good synergy between local governments and coastal communities. "Our common hope is that apart from the main income from fishing, the community's economy will also increase through the tourism sector, this of course requires our synergy together," he concluded.
