Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing Allocates IDR 600 Billion, Builds Flats for IKN Construction Workers

The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) is preparing to build 22 towers of flats (rusun) for construction workers in the New Capital City of Archipelago area or IKN Nusantara. The budget is estimated at IDR 600 billion. "The Ministry of PUPR, which is tasked with building basic infrastructure at IKN Nusantara, will prepare 22 towers of flats," said Director General of Housing at the Ministry of PUPR Iwan Suprijanto in an official statement, Sunday (21/8). The flats will be built by the Ministry of PUPR together with KSO Wika Gedung and Adhi Karya with each tower as high as four floors, and with modular technology that can accommodate up to 17,000 construction workers. He said that the modular housing fabrication technology is intended to make the development process run quickly and have the right size. Currently, there are two residential development tasks at IKN Nusantara, namely the construction of housing construction workers for phase one with 22 towers and official housing for the ministers on duty, which is 36 units. Construction workers' flats are estimated to be completed with a construction target of three months. "Each of the four floors is equipped with meuleair (furniture), health, canteen, shops, places of worship, and building management," explained Iwan. "We also prioritize the use of domestic products in the construction of the construction workers' flats," he explained.

Iwan emphasized that construction work on the construction workers' flats must be carried out quickly because construction work at IKN is expected to start at the end of the year. "The budget for the construction of flats for construction workers is IDR 600 billion. We want construction workers at IKN to be able to work safely according to standards and live in decent and healthy housing, so that the results of the construction are also of high quality," he added. The Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) has submitted the IKN detailed spatial planning (RDTR) document to the IKN Authority Transition Team which will be used as a detailed plan and reference for space utilization permits. "The role of the RDTR is important, because the RDTR is at the forefront of planning and implementing space utilization and development," said Director General of Spatial Planning at the Ministry of ATR/BPN Gabriel Triwibawa in a statement quoted in Jakarta, Saturday. Previously, a follow-up coordination meeting for the preparation of the IKN RDTR was held on August 8, which discussed the RDTR design and strategic environmental study (KLHS). The Ministry of ATR/BPN has also submitted the IKN RDTR planning documents that have been prepared to the IKN Authority Agency. The planning documents include the RDTR of the Planning Area (WP) 1 Central Government Core Area (KIPP), RDTR WP 2 IKN West, RDTR WP 4 IKN East I, and RDTR WP 5 IKN East II. The four RDTR documents that have been compiled can then be processed by the IKN Authority Agency through a coordination mechanism in the IKN Transition Team.
