Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani said that government spending on local products to the Bangga Buatan Indonesia movement can support Indonesia's economic recovery in the third and fourth quarters of 2022. In a plenary cabinet session on the Financial Memorandum and the 2023 State Budget Plan at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Monday (8/8), the Minister of Finance said that President Joko Widodo requested that all ministries/institutions focus on realizing government spending to buy products with high local content. "Thus, this domestic product, Bangga Buatan Indonesia, will be able to support a stronger economic recovery in the third and fourth quarters at a time when the global environment is experiencing a turbulent trend," said the Minister of Finance in a press statement witnessed virtually through the YouTube account of the Presidential Secretariat, Monday (8/8). The Minister of Finance explained that the condition of the Indonesian economy in 2022 is in a good position, even reaching the "pre-covid level" as seen from the amount of Gross Domestic Product in 2021-2022, as well as the state budget deficit which is considered to be still moderate. The Minister of Finance considers economic growth of 5.44 percent in the second quarter of 2022 to be an impressive achievement. The Minister of Finance emphasized that domestic consumption is a supporting factor to maintain strong economic growth in times of uncertain global circumstances.
