Promote Green Infrastructure as New Business Model in Future: govt

Jakarta (ANTARA) - National Development Planning (PPN) Ministry/National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Economic Deputy Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti emphasized the need to promote green infrastructure, a new business model that will emerge in future.
Green infrastructure can also be a solution as a sustainable approach for the next infrastructure development agenda, she stated during the B20-G20 Dialogue titled "Finance and Infrastructure Task Force" participated here on Thursday. G20 is an international forum comprising 19 countries and the European Union that work together to handle major issues. Indonesia is holding the presidency of the grouping this year.
B20 is G20's official dialogue forum with the global business community. It provides practical policy recommendations from a business viewpoint to the G20.
Bappenas has striven to develop green infrastructure projects, including solar power and hydropower, Widyasanti remarked.

In this case, Indonesia underlined the need for collaboration and cooperation with international partners to advance the development of green infrastructure projects.
One of the collaborations forged by Indonesia is the cooperation with Global Green Growth Institute, including in the application of the Green Infrastructure initiative.
Indonesia also cooperates with the German government to develop drinking water, waste management, and urban transportation with the green initiative concept.
This collaboration must be forged since most developing countries already have renewable energy source patterns, such as hydropower, solar power, geothermal, and biomass.
To this end, Widyasanti stressed that global cooperation and partnership should be promoted to support the advancement of green infrastructure.

This collaboration is not just to support the financial aspect of green infrastructure projects but also to facilitate technology transfer as well as technology provision and consulting.
She expressed the belief that this event would be a good opportunity for people to gain a broader understanding of the needs of developing countries toward green infrastructure development.
