The plan of the Sumedang Regency Government to make the Sub-districts of Buahdua, Ujungnya, and Tomo (Butom) as industrial partners, seems to be quite promising. Because in addition to having a very large land area with a range of up to 900 hectares, this industrial area in Butom Sumedang has very easy transportation accessibility, or is affordable by various means of transportation. Where, for sea transportation needs, it can be reached from Patimban Port in Subang, for air transportation needs close to West Java International Airport in Kertajati, and for land transportation the Butom area is also connected to the Cisumdawu Toll Road. Seeing how strategic the Butom industrial area is, it is not surprising that many investors are finally interested in developing their business in Sumedang, especially in the Butom area. Sumedang Regent H. Dony Ahmad Munir, said that entrepreneurs who are interested in developing their business in the Butom industrial area are not only local investors in Indonesia, but also many foreign investors from other countries. Dony said that currently there are several technology-intensive companies that have made the choice to invest in the Butom industrial area.
However, because it is still in the process, Dony has not dared to specify the names of the companies, and from which countries the investors will invest in the Butom Sumedang area. "Later, when the progress is more than 50 percent, we will definitely announce it. But for sure, the company that is still in the process is one of the technology companies," said Regent Dony, to reporters recently. Therefore, continued Dony, now the Sumedang Regency Government will continue to focus on boosting the growth of the industrial area in Butom, which is predicted to be the future of Indonesia's economic growth. If this is truly realized, then the people of Sumedang will definitely be the first to feel the positive impact. After all, industrial development in the Butom area will definitely open up new jobs. That way, the development of Human Resources (HR) in Sumedang will also in the future have strong capacity and competitiveness, so that it can be directly proportional to the process of developing the Industrial Estate in Butom. "We will continue to organize the Tambourine Metropolitan Area so that it can become a representative industrial area. We will continue to optimize the infrastructure problem," said Regent Dony. As the Regional Head, Dony is of course very confident that the Butom area will be able to develop as a center of economic growth, because based on a study conducted by the Sumedang Regency Government, the Butom region has more established readiness to become an environmentally oriented industrial area. "Experts and observers also assess that the Butom area is complete. So it doesn't take long to make it an industrial area. So we have to be optimistic," he said.
