Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo released the first export of chicken to Singapore of 50 tons with a value of IDR 2 billion. In this case, exports by PT. Charoen Pokhpand Indonesia in the form of frozen chicken and processed chicken. In addition to Singapore, the Minister of Agriculture also released the export of processed chicken products to Japan and chicken carcasses to Timor Leste with a volume of 12 tons each, equivalent to Rp. 1 billion. "We are both happy today because today's agricultural products and commodities, including our livestock, have been successfully released to the export markets of Singapore, Japan and Timor Leste," said the Minister of Agriculture at the Head Office of PT. Charoen Pokhpand Indonesia, quoted from a press release from the Ministry of Agriculture, Wednesday (13/7).
The Minister of Agriculture said that the export of livestock products to Singapore is proof that Indonesian livestock products have quality assurance of food safety and are worthy of penetrating the international market. This export is also expected to pave the way for Indonesian livestock products to penetrate the export markets of other countries. With national chicken production reaching around 3.8 million tons per year, Indonesia is able to meet the demand for chicken meat from domestic production. However, export activities must be carried out while still prioritizing domestic needs. "The President's order is that there are commodities that have excess production, we must encourage them to be able to seize opportunities like this export. If we look at the development of poultry and eggs, which are quite extraordinary in number and recorded as overstocked, why don't we encourage them, of course, while still putting the national interest ahead of us?" everything," said the Minister of Agriculture. Meanwhile, the President Commissioner of PT. Charoen Pokhpand Indonesia (CPI) Hadi Gunawan said that his company had succeeded in opening export market routes for processed chicken products, poultry feed and day old chicks (DOC) thanks to the assistance of the Ministry of Agriculture. "Our products have been certified by internationally recognized standards such as Halal certification, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), FSSC 22000 and have NKV (Veterinary Control Number) so that they can enter Japan, Papua New Guinea and Timor Leste and Qatar," said Hadi.
He also said that the cooperation between the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture and the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) had led his company to sign a cooperation agreement to supply chicken meat and its processed products to Singapore. PT. CPI has signed a cooperation agreement with a Singaporean importer of 1,000 tons which will be shipped in stages until the end of 2022 and will continue to increase according to conditions in Singapore.
