The Kasepuhan Customary Community of Pasir Eurih, Sobang District, Lebak Regency, Banten Province, produces the Kompak brand of ground coffee to create economic independence and create jobs for the people in the area. "We are in the coffee production business as part of the creative economy so that the residents here are independent and do not urbanize outside the region," said Maman Sahroni, Chair of the Pasir Eurih Traditional Kasepuhan Community, Lebak Regency, Monday (11/7/2022). The coffee production business in Kasepuhan Pasir Eurih has the potential to grow the community's economy. Because it is supported by abundant raw materials in the area. Local coffee production in the area when it enters the harvest season is supplied outside the area and farmers sell it to middlemen in the form of grain for Rp. 15 thousand/kg. Therefore, his party established a community of 200 members, mostly youths, to save farmers from producing coffee rather than selling it in the form of grain to middlemen.
The production of ground coffee is profitable, because it has a high selling value and can create jobs. In addition, the kasepuhan community also planted 5,000 coffee seedlings and planted them in 2017 on production forest lands given by President Joko Widodo of more than 200 hectares in the Mount Halimun Salak National Park (TNGHS) area. Currently, he said, the coffee seeds planted by 5,000 stems have begun to be harvested. "We, together with the Kasepuhan community and residents, are now able to produce the Kompak brand of ground coffee and can increase the community's economic income," said the man who graduated with a bachelor's degree in education. According to him, currently, the marketing of the Kompak brand of ground coffee has been circulating in the Lebak Regency area and based on coffee connoisseurs from Jakarta, it has quality as well as flavor. The production of the Kompak brand of ground coffee is more selective in sorting and only coffee grains that are ripe and red in color. Coffee production is processed by grinding equipment until packaging is carried out. Currently, the production of powdered coffee with the Kompak brand is sold at retail with a weight of a quarter kilogram, selling for Rp. 20 thousand and for one kilogram, it is Rp. 60 thousand. The kasepuhan community is now optimizing promotions and advertisements so that they can penetrate the domestic market to exports abroad. "We started the coffee business in about a year so that people's income is millions of rupiah per month," he added.
