20,000 Fruit Seeds Donated to Women Farmers Group, Strengthening the Economy Through Agriculture

The Department of Agriculture and Food of the City of Bukittinggi handed over 20,000 fruit seeds to the community, through the kelurahan and the Women Farmers Group (KWT). The symbolic handover was initiated by the Mayor of Bukittinggi, Erman Safar, at the expanse of the Ranjau Sakato farmer group, Bukit Apit Puhun, Tuesday (5/7). The Head of the Bukittinggi Agriculture and Food Service, Melwizardi, explained that there were three activities carried out. The handover of fruit seeds from BPDASHL Agam Kuantan was symbolically handed over to the Bukittinggi City Government and then handed over to the community through the sub-district and village heads.

“We produce 500,000 seedlings per year, in the Pintu Kabun nursery area, to be distributed free of charge to the community. The mayor wants to improve the community's alternative economy through planting fruit. For this reason, we chose honey guava seeds, which can generate tremendous income. There are 20,000 sticks prepared for the community. We hope this can be maintained properly," he hoped. Mayor of Bukittinggi, Erman Safar said, Bukittinggi is an urban area that will gradually lose land for agriculture. However, the city government will continue to strive to improve the community's economy through agriculture. “Bukittinggi must have a variety of famous fruit, so that it can become typical of Bukittinggi. We will try to improve the people's economy through fruit farming activities. One yard one guava tree.
