Banua Sharia Economic Festival 2022, Bank Indonesia South Kalimantan Encourages Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to Develop Halal Industry

Bank Indonesia, South Kalimantan Province, participated in the implementation of the Eastern Indonesia Sharia Economic Festival/FESyar KTI by holding the Banua Sharia Economic Festival. This year's FESyar Banua carries the theme "Synergy of Islamic Economy and Finance to Strengthen Inclusive Economic Recovery in Banua". In order to enliven this event, Bank Indonesia South Kalimantan in collaboration with the South Kalimantan Provincial Government held an economic forum, economic education and an economic exhibition on 2-3 July 2022 at the Atrium Duta Mall. Head of Bank Indonesia South Kalimantan Representative, Imam Subarkah in his speech said that this activity was carried out as an effort to answer economic challenges in the post-covid-19 recovery period, which had a large impact on this sector in 2020. Imam continued, this basic principle of sharia economics focuses on optimizing the use of resources and encouraging productive economic activities. "Therefore, the development of Islamic finance is an important part in realizing sustainable economic growth," said Imam Subarkah.

Meanwhile, in South Kalimantan in particular, there is potential to develop a halal value chain (halal industry). Even in the world rankings, the Indonesian halal industry is in the top 10 in terms of food ingredients, fashion, and halal tourism. "Our halal industry has contributed to economic development which has shown an increasing number since 2016," said Imam again. This is an interesting number where Indonesia is already at the top for the halal economic sector. This is supported by domestic halal products which are increasingly able to meet the consumption needs of the community, whose numbers are also quite large. Then how can we meet the standards of running this halal industry? One of them is with halal certification for small and medium business products. Therefore, at this event, the Bakul Banua application was also launched which will help assist micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in obtaining halal product development, promotion management, packaging development, and others.

Meanwhile, the Head of the South Kalimantan Province Cooperatives and SMEs Service, Gusti Yanuar Noor Rifai, representing the Governor of South Kalimantan, welcomed the implementation of the 2022 Banua Sharia Economic Festival. "This festival further expands and advances the Sharia economy in Banua. Moreover, South Kalimantan is one of the regions that has supporting resources for a sharia-based economy," he said. In addition, at the 2022 Banua Sharia Economic Festival, a number of competitions were also held, including an entrepreneurial competition, a youth boarding school competition, a leading boarding school competition, an Islamic regional dance competition, a Sharia economic da'wah competition, to a Muslim dress design competition.
