Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for the Economy, said that the technical replacement of cattle that were culled due to infection with Mouth and Mouth Disease (FMD) would be regulated through a Regulation of the Minister of Agriculture. According to him, not all farmers whose cows are destroyed will receive a compensation of IDR 10 million per head. He cites an example, if a cow has to be slaughtered and the meat can still be sold according to certain protocols, then they will not receive a replacement or only receive partial compensation. "Technically prepared by the Minister of Agriculture. So, the maximum replacement is IDR 10 million," he said this afternoon, Monday (4/7/2022), at the Jakarta Presidential Palace Complex. The Chairperson of the Committee for Handling the Covid-19 and National Economic Recovery (KPCPEN) hopes that the Regulation of the Minister of Agriculture regarding the replacement of livestock infected with FMD will be issued in the near future.
"That will be regulated by the Ministry of Agriculture. We ask that the regulations be issued as soon as possible," said Airlangga. Previously, Airlangga said the Government was continuing to make various efforts to prevent the spread of Mouth and Nail Diseases that infect livestock, especially cattle. Among other things, prohibiting cattle from areas with high FMD cases (red zones) from leaving the area, and preparing a special vaccination program for livestock. The plan is that this year the government will bring in 29 million doses of vaccine from abroad. The vaccines will be distributed to various regions. Then, the Government will provide compensation to breeders of the category of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) whose cows must be destroyed. All costs to overcome the PMK Pandemic are included in the KPCPEN budget.
