The Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, has opted for the Batang Integrated Industrial Estate (KITB), Central Java, which is being built, supported by economical port transportation infrastructure. That way later the operational costs are not expensive. “KITB is the center of an integrated industrial area. So we have to really think about how the port operations run well," Budi said in a written statement, Monday (4/7/2022).
He explained that port operations run well if there is an easy and efficient sequence of operations. Budi ensured that the Ministry of Transportation had coordinated with PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) to build and operate federated ports to other major ports. Meanwhile, a train dry port will also be built. Budi said the railway line between the port and the industrial area is ideal for efficient logistics costs.
"We will discuss in more detail the technical operations of port development at KITB with a number of parties," said Budi. A number of transportation infrastructures to be built in the industrial area include the railway sector, namely the development of the Plabuan Station and the reactivation of the Semarang, Tawang - Tanjung Emas railway line. Meanwhile in the marine sector, namely, the construction of dry ports and the construction of piers. The construction of a number of transportation infrastructures will begin to be built from 2022 to 2024. This is expected to facilitate the connectivity of logistics movements to and from the Industrial area in Batang. "With the smooth movement, logistics costs will be streamlined and will increase the competitiveness of products produced in this region," said Budi.
