West Sumatra (West Sumatra) has again exported dried lizards to Hong Kong. The export weighing 670 kilograms (kg) was sent in 25 collies by airplane. "Alhamdulillah, this is the second shipment. Previously, 330 kilograms of lizards had been exported," said lizard exporter from West Sumatra, Doni Editiawarman in Padang, as quoted by Antara, Friday (17/6). Doni said the lizards were collected at his house from a number of areas from Medan to Java. Hundreds of kilograms of lizards are dried using sunlight and to speed up the drying process they are also burned using a furnace in a special room. He uses formalin in the packaging so that the lizards sent don't smell. For delivery, Doni uses the Padang-Jakarta flight and continues with Jakarta-Hong Kong.
Initially, Doni was in the business of exporting crispy fish. However, he saw a demand for the export of cecar which is used for herbal medicinal ingredients. "It took a long time to collect lizards up to 670 kilograms, but before that I already had stock and to speed up the burning was also carried out," he said. The head of the Padang Quarantine Center Iswan Haryanto is happy and proud of the tenacity of the West Sumatran entrepreneurs. "Finally, the dried lizards are re-exported by Hong Kong, they can see opportunities, the exports of lizards are rare and unique," he said. According to him, the Padang Agricultural Quarantine through the Minangkabau International Airport Working Area has carried out inspections on the lizard commodities to be exported. The inspection is carried out starting from carrier media with good physical condition, the quantity is in accordance with the application until the packaging is intact so that certification can be carried out by issuing a quarantine certificate in the form of a Certificate for Materials of Animal Origin (KH-12). "Dried lizards are trusted by the public for Chinese herbal medicines that can cure diseases," he said.
