In order to empower Mimika's local products to become more known to the world, Deputy Regent Johannes Rettob, Monday (13/6) released the first export of Mimika karaka (crab) to Shanghai, China. The first export was carried out after exporter Putri Desi obtained a Certificate of Origin (SKA) issued by the Mimika Regency Industry and Trade Office (Disperindag). The inauguration of the first export was carried out at the Cargo Warehouse of Mozes Kilangin Airport, Timika, which was attended by the Head of Industry and Trade, UPBU, Garuda Indonesia, and Hartati (Putri Desi). "We are proud that we can carry out the first export activity to Shanghai. We've sent it to Malaysia and Singapore, this time to Shanghai, it's amazing. By increasing external demand, it is hoped that it will help improve the local community's economy, especially the Mimika coastal fishermen," said Deputy Regent JR in his remarks. According to him, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Karaka's exports to foreign countries decreased somewhat because the volume of flights fell.
"Now it's open again. Today at half past 12 noon leaving with Garuda, arriving tomorrow at 7 am in Shanghai China," he said. He hopes that if Putri Desi in the first shipment is only 10 boxes or 320 kilograms, the next shipment can increase. "Because Garuda planes go to Shanghai once a week, so these are sent once a week. Hopefully Garuda can increase the frequency. Thanks to Customs and Excise for helping entrepreneurs to make this work. We hope that Customs and Excise will continue to assist us in exporting and importing. Today crabs, maybe tomorrow fisheries, plantations, and others," he explained.
