The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Central Sulawesi Province (Sulteng) noted that iron and steel commodities contributed greatly to boosting Central Sulawesi's exports throughout April 2022. "During April 2022, Central Sulawesi's total exports were USD 1.7 billion, an increase of USD 12.5 million or 0, 74% compared to the previous month. The largest contribution to Central Sulawesi's exports came from iron and steel worth US$1.3 billion or 76% of the total export value," said Central Sulawesi BPS Statistics Distribution Function Coordinator Sutrisno S Abudungut in Palu City. Next, nickel contributed USD 198.4 million or 11.69% and mineral fuels valued at USD 108 million or 6.36% of total exports. Sutrisno said the export contribution of other commodity groups was relatively small, each below six percent.
Based on export destination countries, China was the main export destination country during April 2022 which reached USD 695.2 million or 40.97% of the total export value of Central Sulawesi. "Followed by Taiwan worth USD 449.8 million or 26.51%, South Korea worth USD 107.4 million or 6.33% and Italy worth USD 100 million or 5.89%. Meanwhile, the value of exports to other destination countries is - under 5% each," said Sutrisno. Sutrisno added, during April 2022, all export transactions through Central Sulawesi worth USD 1.7 billion were facilitated by Kolonodale Port in North Morowali Regency worth USD 1.5 billion and Luwuk Port in Banggai Regency worth USD 191 million.
Meanwhile, exports through ports in other provinces were recorded at USD 5.4 million, each through Tanjung Perak, East Java Province, valued at USD 2.1 million, Tanjung Priok, DKI Jakarta Province, valued at USD 2.9 million, Tanjung Emas, Central Java Province, valued at USD 0. 2 million. "Then the port in Makassar, South Sulawesi Province, worth USD 0.3 million and the remaining USD 0.04 million through Soekarno Hatta Airport, Banten. This means that the export loading port in Central Sulawesi plays a role of 99.68%," he added.
