Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD stated that based on scientific calculations carried out by a number of credible institutions, by 2045 Indonesia could become the fourth or fifth economic power country in the world. Indonesia's position will be under China, India and the United States. He assesses the possibility of the fourth and fifth positions because Indonesia is in tight competition with Japan. This was said by Mahfud in the event entitled "Confirming the National Consensus, Welcoming the 2045 Golden Indonesia", Saturday (28/5/2022).
According to the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK), Indonesia can become a world economic power country if the Indonesian national consensus is well maintained. He reviewed Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto's statement in 2018 which said that Indonesia would dissolve in 2030. According to him, this could be true if there was no law enforcement, shaky justice, and a divided society. Mahfud emphasized that the joint agreement with Indonesia is a national consensus towards the 2045 Golden Indonesia. This is very important to observe because protecting the Indonesian nation is not only for now but for the next generation. “We can go to our respective places of worship, but when this country faces basic issues, we must do the same as eradicating corruption, enforcing the law, and building justice. Those are our national values, the important thing is the purpose of living as a state,” he said.
