Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir said the impact of infrastructure development in the era of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on national economic growth. This was conveyed by Erick in his presentation and review of the plan to prepare for the return homecoming from Sumatra at the Port of Bakaheuni, Lampung, Wednesday (4/5/2022). "There are interesting data, which proves that the infrastructure development built by the President has resulted in extraordinary growth," said Erick Thohir.
Based on data from the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), Erick said, there was a significant increase in the movement of Eid transportation this year. Erick said the number of logistics trucks for Eid 2022 for the H-10 to D-1 period reached 22,588 units, an increase of 116% compared to the same period in 2019 which was 10,477 units. Erick Thohir considered the logistics surge to be a sign that the Indonesian economy was starting to recover after the COVID-19 pandemic. "In addition, the increase in four-wheeled vehicles is up to 27 percent (from 88,626 units in 2019 to 112,139 units in 2022). This proves that the community's economy is improving," he said.
He also fully supports the Ministry of Transportation's plan and in accordance with the direction of the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture regarding the operational re-mapping of the Merak-Bakauheni Port route in the future. According to him, the Ministry of SOEs will cooperate with the National Police and the regional government to follow up the directives of the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture regarding the operation of the Merak-Bakauheni Port route. "The Ministry of SOEs will re-draw together with the Police and the local government, whether we will continue to do Merak as a crossing port for only cars and motorbikes, will it follow logistics but the logistics will be moved to another point. This is a consideration that we will recalculate later so we can improve the quality for the community," said Erick.
