The International Monetary Fund (IMF) projects that Indonesia's trade in goods and services will continue to grow in 2022, as the world economy recovers from the Covid-19 pandemic.
In the April 2022 edition of the World Economic Outlook report, the IMF projects that the volume of Indonesia's exports of goods and services will grow by 26.05% in 2022, but will fall by 9.86% in 2023. As for the volume of imports of goods and services, the IMF projects that growth will be higher. lower than exports, at 5.62% in 2022. The IMF also forecasts import volumes will continue to grow at 6.69% in 2023, marking an expected rise in domestic demand.
On the other hand, Bank Mandiri economist Faisal Rachman believes that the surge in commodity prices will continue to support export performance, but will also increase the risk of higher-than-expected inflation.
