The North Sulawesi Provincial Government Continues to Make Maximum Efforts to Create a Conducive Investment Climate

Head of the North Sulawesi One Stop Integrated Service-Investment Service (DPM-PTSP), Franky Manumpil said the North Sulawesi Provincial Government continues to make maximum efforts to create a conducive investment climate. "To attract investors, we need to create a conducive investment climate. We hope that the security and comfort of people's lives will be maintained so that the investment climate in the region is maintained," said Franky in Manado, Tuesday.
He explained, in 2022, the investment target in North Sulawesi Province reached IDR 7.4 trillion, higher than the previous year of IDR 5.51 trillion. He admits that there are challenges in achieving this target because the delegation of authority from the central government to the Governor has not been fully delegated. In some sectors, he said, the authority to issue permits is still attached to the ministry.

He gave an example, for excavation C, specifically for permits for rock and metal mineral materials, it is still at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM). Likewise with licensing for the fisheries sector, he continued, where licensing for ships weighing over 30 GT (gross tonnage) is still with the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), including other authorities in the field of manpower. He expressed his hope that the central government would immediately delegate authority to the governor or provincial government to issue permits to facilitate the investment climate in the regions. If licensing is easy and fast, the investment realization target throughout this year is optimistic to be achieved. "This is a challenge for the provincial government to encourage investment into North Sulawesi," said Franky.
