The Governor of the Bangka Belitung Islands, Erzaldi Rosman, believes that the realization of the construction of an interconnection of underwater power cables connecting the islands of Sumatra and Bangka will increase investment in the Laskar Pelangi country. "With the interconnection of submarine cables in the Bangka Strait, we hope that economic growth will accelerate because currently there are many investors who want to invest but are still waiting for the availability of sufficient electricity," said Babel Governor Erzaldi Rosman during a working visit in Mentok, Babylon, Wednesday. According to him, with the guaranteed availability of electricity in Babylon, a number of investors in the fisheries sector, shrimp farming and smelting or smelters will soon enter.
The investment sector will continue to develop and of course will have a positive impact on regional economic growth and the community will also feel the positive impact of the stretching of the economy. Erzaldi inspected PT PLN's submarine cable project at Pantai Asmara Mentok, West Bangka Regency, accompanied by the Regent of West Bangka Sukirman and General Manager of PLN UIW Babel Amris Adnan. "The first circuit that has been connected has a power of 30 MW and this will continue to increase gradually until it peaks at 90 MW," he said. After that, he said, PLN would continue with the construction of a second circuit which, when combined, would be able to supply 200 MW. Thus, the increasing demand for electricity in Bangka Belitung will be fulfilled. "We estimate that by the end of 2022, the 36 kms long submarine cable project will be completed and consumers will feel more comfortable because the availability of electricity is sufficient and does not affect tariffs," he said. Amris stated that PLN's Sumatra-Bangka interconnection is ready to support investment growth in the area by meeting electricity supply as needed.
