Member of Commission IV DPR RI Johan Rosihan asked all ranks of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) to continue to maintain stable fish prices amidst fluctuations in prices of other food commodities which tend to soar sharply and the threat of food inflation which has an impact on rising prices for all food commodities. According to Johan, fish commodities should be an alternative food that is cheap and affordable for all people to meet the protein and nutritional needs of the community. "Please keep the price of fish, because fish is not only a matter of stock but fish commodities must be used as an alternative food that is cheap, affordable and always available so that people can meet their needs in this fasting month," said Johan during a hearing with Echelon 1 KKP in DPR RI Building, Senayan Jakarta, Tuesday (5/4). This PKS politician also conveyed a Happy Fisherman's Day 2022. He hopes that all components of the nation will continue to have the same commitment to continue to fight and take action to realize the welfare of our fishermen, who in fact are being marginalized today. Johan also requested that the KKP fulfill the allocation of subsidized fertilizer for traditional fish farmers with a distribution system that makes it easier for farmers in the field.
"I see subsidized fertilizers for cultivators in many provinces that have not yet been proposed, including NTB, so please give enough time due to the fact that people do not know that there is a shift in the role of the Ministry of Agriculture to KKP specifically for fish cultivators," explained Johan. Regarding the fish stock issue, Johan said the fish stock as of March 28, 2022 was 519 tons. Meanwhile, the prognosis for fish demand during fasting and Eid in 2022 reaches 2.64 million tons. Therefore, he emphasized “what is the guarantee that we can maintain sufficient fish while currently everywhere we hear that diesel fuel is scarce for fishermen. This Senayan legislator asked the KKP to pay more attention to the issue of BBM (fuel oil) for fishermen because it is very vital for the needs of fishermen.
According to him, there must be a special policy for the distribution of BBM for fishermen because it cannot be equated with other BBM users/consumers. "Fishermen must receive special subsidies and special distribution patterns that make it easier for fishermen to get fuel supplies for their fishing needs," suggested Johan. According to Johan, if you don't want a shortage of supply, the KKP must ensure that aquaculture and fishing production during this season reach the target. The attention and protection of the KKP on the condition of fishermen and farmers must be increased because they are at the forefront of providing fish that can meet national needs. The people's representative from the NTB 1 electoral district also hopes that the KKP will have a strategic roadmap concept for the development of marine fisheries in eastern Indonesia with the mission that the prosperity of the eastern region is based on the revival of marine and fishery potential. "An adequate budget must be prepared to revive the maritime economy of eastern Indonesia so that it becomes a region that is competitive and has a competitive advantage in the global marine fisheries sector," said Johan Rosihan.
