Indonesia aims to reach the top 10 of the world economy by 2030 through the Trade, Investment, and Industry Working Group (TIIWG) of the G-20 Presidency of Indonesia in 2022, although the industrial sector has only joined the working group when Indonesia is in the G-20 Presidency, which will begin at the end of March. this. "There is a great interest from the Indonesian government to expand TIIWG because Indonesia has aspirations to become the world's top 10 economies in 2030 as stated in the industry 4.0 roadmap in 2018," said Director General of Resilience, Territorial and International Industrial Access (KPAII) Eko Cahyanto in Jakarta, yesterday.
Eko added, of the entire G-20 countries, around 15 percent of the economy comes from industry. Therefore, when Indonesia proposed an expansion into TIIWG, many countries supported this proposal and cared about the importance of industry in the G-20. Given the importance of industrial issues, since 2018 Indonesia has a target to become the world's top 10 economies by 2030. To get there, planning and implementation steps are needed without disturbing disruptions.
"Behind the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic for more than two years, there is one thing that can be an opportunity or be put to good use, namely the application of digitalization in the industrial sector," he said. He added, to support this effort, the contribution of industrial exports must be able to reach 10% of the net export GDP. Industrial productivity must also be increased in order to have higher competitiveness. "In addition, we hope that RnD activities in the industrial sector will also be more active to create innovation and increase competitiveness," he explained.
