President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) believes Indonesia's economic growth will be better. One of the drivers is the construction of the national capital city (IKN) of the Archipelago. "The development of the IKN (Nusantara) will be one of the engines of economic growth, especially eastern Indonesia, and will be the engine of innovation to accelerate future economic development," Jokowi said at the CNBC Economic Outlook 2022 event, Tuesday (22/3/2022). In addition, the President said that there are a number of foundations that have been built since 2021 so that it is believed to encourage economic recovery after being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic for two years. "Entering 2022, we have a better foundation. First, we are a country that has succeeded in dealing with the pandemic, the case of the spread of Covid-19 is quite controllable," he said. According to Jokowi, controlling the Covid-19 pandemic by not implementing a national lockdown policy has kept the Indonesian economy moving for two years even though it was limited. Economic conditions that continue to move are considered to facilitate economic acceleration in 2022. Jokowi said the second foundation was fundamental and comprehensive structural reforms with the issuance of the Job Creation Act last year. Jokowi assessed that the regulation, which simplifies the bureaucracy for investment, is a big foundation whose results will be seen and enjoyed in 2022.
While the fourth foundation is the strengthening of the digital economy as a new basis for the economy. This is reflected in the increasing number of startups that are now unicorns, and some even managed to reach decacorn last year. "This is proof that digital infrastructure is expanding and the digital ecosystem is becoming more conducive," he said. "With these foundations, I believe we can accelerate economic growth much better in 2022," he continued. Jokowi ensured, with the foundation that had been built, the economic recovery would continue to be encouraged. He said, downstreaming will continue to produce more and more varied derivative products. It is believed that downstreaming will lead to greater investment inflows, thereby creating more job opportunities. In addition, it is also believed that the value of exports will continue to increase so as to improve the balance of payments and strengthen Indonesia's fiscal and monetary policies.
